   Caren Callahan is a former Sonoma County sheriff deputy who passed the California bar examination the first time without going to law school, an extremely rare achievement. She then opened a private practice in Sonoma County concentrating in estate planning, probate, business, tax and real estate law.
    Callahan moved to Mendocino County in 1991 to continue her practice with clients throughout the country as well as in Europe. She has appeared before the California First District Appellate Court on five occasions, and prevailed in four of those cases, two of them published opinions... setting a precedent and making case law.
     She has done significant pro bono work for Face 2 Face, California Rural Legal Aid, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Redwood Legal Aid, as a fee arbitrator for the Sonoma County Bar Association, judge pro tem, and recently, as a court-appointed mediator for the Mendocino County Superior Court.
