Radical Astrologer: November

November 9, 2012
By

Well, here comes November-no doubt most people reading this have the election on their minds. As some may recall, I’ve already made a prediction regarding this election.  By using the natal charts of the two Presidential candidates and applying astrological techniques to determine their relative states of mind on the day after the election, I stand by my prediction that Mr. Obama will win the election.

Another subject I’ve often mentioned is the Uranus-Pluto square.  This aspect-creating a crisis in action in the struggle between conservatism and revolution-the Piscean Age and the new Aquarian Age- continues to be in force throughout the month. This aspect, lasting off and on until 2015, is the real source of the common perception that 2012 will be remembered as a “watershed” year-ending one era and beginning another.

The first week November 1st-7th, except for Election Day might be rather quiet.  But there are two disharmonious aspects to Venus, likely increasing the tension between the two sides-though they may also disrupt personal relationships somewhat due to Venus’s status as the Goddess of Love. The most important thing happening takes place on Election Day itself-when Mercury, ruler of communication goes retrograde, i.e. turns around and moves backward through the zodiac. This has the effect of causing delays, mixups, confusion, etc. It increases the likelihood that the election results may not be clear for some time-just as in 2000-when Mercury was already retrograde on Election Day. Many will say that skewing the polls, using Fox news and other deceptive, bought-and-sold media outlets to bolster Romney’s image-claiming he won the first debate when all he did was lie better on his feet-and denying votes to minorities who can somehow be purged from the rolls under the guise of “preventing voter fraud”-is in fact the GOP’s plan to throw the election into the Supreme Court where the conservative majority on the bench will award the presidency to Mr. Romney.  For the record, your “Radical Astrologer” agrees with them.

The second week November 8th-15th begins with a positive aspect between Venus and Jupiter.  Especially if the election’s been settled, there will be a tendency to sooth ruffled feathers, smooth over differences, at least between partners and lovers. The main event, though-in an astrological sense-is the Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on the 13th. It takes place in the 22nd degree of Scorpio the symbol of which is: “Hunters Starting Out For Ducks” referring to the socialization of aggressive instincts, used (hopefully) for the benefit of all…perhaps not, however.  This point-also a New Moon, BTW-signals a lunar month where the tone set is aggressive-so it’s likely that whomever becomes President there will at least be saber-rattling between the Western Empire  U .S. , Israel, etc.) and the Persian one-Iran.  Even the modern-day Othello-Mr. Obama-like the first one has to follow the logic of empire.

The third week November 16th-23th is pretty unremarkable-as the Sun enters Sagittarius just in time for Thanksgiving. To we astrologers it’s not a mere coincidence, of course. Sagittarius is the sign of “sharing the abundance and bounty of nature,” as the Goddess teaches.

The fourth week November 24th-30th has a few Mars and Venus aspects.  Mars conjunct Pluto will pull everyone susceptible towards romance and sexuality. The conjunction of Venus with Saturn tells us to use caution this weekend in “affairs of the heart”. The final event of the month will be the peak-fulfillment-illumination (or perhaps “darkening”-if we haven’t set a good intention and laid the groundwork for its fruition) of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the 28th. The degree involved is the 7th degree of Gemini-symbol of which is “A Well Under the Shade of Majestic Trees”-symbolizing the primordial faith of humankind in the bounty of Nature-providing to all who need that which is at the root of all living processes, i. e. water.  This demands some effort-raising the water-filled bucket-but it is a simple natural effort under the shade of trees which attest to the presence of the life-giving fluid. We must learn to sense the hidden reality which preserves for the use of all living organisms this gift of the “sky,” the bounteous rain.

This symbol also-very fittingly-stresses the power of the collective and bio-spiritual energies which sustain all earth-rooted cultures in contrast to whatever the technological mind of humanity can make available to increase his personal comfort and mastery over matter. It implies a fundamental trust in and cooperation with life. This is, of course appropriate to the discussion of this election-as Mr. Obama said-and was roundly criticized for-and yet he’s right-”you didn’t build that.” The bounty of nature is provided to all-what any of us does rises above the crowd only because-as Isaac Newton said “I”ve stood on the shoulders of others.”
